WE ARE ALL CONNECTED 2020


WE ARE ALL CONNECTED 

Since we are all part of a delicate and balanced ecosystem containing plants, animals, and non- living organisms, what happens at the bottom of the food chain, ripples to the apex. 
We humans sit at this apex. 
We are all connected and we all depend on one another for all our needs-our very survival. 
A perfect example of how we humans are all connected with wildlife, harks back  to Chairman Mao of China. 
When he ruled supreme in China, he had observed sparrows landing in farmers’ fields and devouring the crops. 
So being woefully uneducated about the balanced food chain in the web of life, he issued an edict that every citizen would be paid, for every sparrow killed. 
With a population of close to 2 billion, in no time at all, the defenseless, little birds had been decimated! 
Since we learned in grade school about the food chain, we can all predict what happened next. 
After the sparrows were cruelly eliminated, there was an explosion of bugs that quickly spread across the land and devoured the farmers’ crops causing a famine and the resulting starvation of thousands of people!

This is just one example of the havoc we can wreak when our actions are not rooted in the basic fundamentals of science. 

 Our defenseless animal in the wild have no VOICE.


DEAR LEADERS OF THE WORLD-

I am the VOICE of our wildlife,  especially, the endangered ones, please do the right thing, enact legislation to protect 50% of our green spaces - habitats for our precious wildlife.

 DON'T  TREAT MOTHER EARTH LIKE A GIGANTIC GARBAGE BIN On Sunday, October 15, the Barrie Garden Club ventured out on a dark, dreary, and drizzly day to pick up litter, along Highway 26 close to Wilson Avenue. As I was picking up all kinds of litter such as license plates, chairs, discarded clothing, plastic bags, lots  of cigarette butts, and a myriad of discarded coffee containers, I began to reflect on all the problems triggered by litter. Here in Canada, we are very lucky to have an organized system where most municipalities and cities  make sure that there are regular pick-ups for your garbage, compost, and recyclables. So it boggles my mind why so many Canadians do not use the readily provided containers, but instead  treat Mother Earth like a gigantic garbage bin. I simply cannot understand when someone buys a cup of coffee, they then go for a long hike, they  manage to carry the cup full of coffee, but the minute it’s empty, they simply cannot manage to carry  it back home a
