GET READY FOR THE MOST INCREDIBLE BENEFITS OF  SUNFLOWERS!

Sunflowers look cheerful, peaceful, calm, and delightful!

They are known hyperaccumulators since they can absorb contaminants like nuclear radiation from the air and soil.

They first planted sunflowers around Chernobyl in the 1990’s

Recently they planted millions of sunflowers near the nuclear plant in Fukushima  in Japan after a tsunami struck the plant.

To prevent bird from eating the radioactive seeds they harvest them just before they go into seed.

The huge biomass of sunflower  plants are all radioactive.

It is much easier to dispose of radioactive plants than huge amounts of radioactive soil.

Although the nuclear disaster took place in 1986 the pine forest which turned from green to red still has  radioactive soil.

So sunflowers have become an anti-nuclear symbol.
