HOW CAN I HELP REDUCE GHGs AND HELP SAVE BIRDS

1. Vastly reduce or stop on-line shopping

Amazon’s return policy where shoppers are allowed to buy multiple items and keep one and return the rest has caused an alarming increase in transport trucks on the roads  spewing out nasty pollutants, increasing greenhouse gases, clogging up traffic, and damaging roads.                                                                                          The more greenhouse gases pouring onto our atmosphere the faster will be the rate of global overheating which has an alarming impact on our birds.

Keep in mind every time, you order online from companies like Amazon, you are making it more and more difficult for local retailers to stay afloat.

Not only, do local retailers provide residents with much  needed goods and services, but they are a critical tax base for the City - less money means fewer initiatives to combat climate chaos.

2.   Compost- There are close to 100 compostable items - 40 % of all methane gas comes from compostable materials deposited in our landfill sites- without oxygen,  methane gas is produced as organic materials biodegrade.                                          Methane gas is 40-80  times more potent in preventing the sun’s heat energy from escaping back into space to help cool the earth.

3. Avoid drinking any drinks from plastic bottles                    It was recently reported that the three top companies responsible for the plastic litter choking our oceans are Coke, Pepsi and Nestle.                                                                                                                                                                         Recent research has demonstrated  that plastic bottles with water contain  10 of thousands of microbeads of plastic per bottle which will wreak havoc on a person’s health and well being.                                                                                                           ***Plastic not only is responsible for the agonizing deaths of millions of marine animals per year, but transporting the “drinks of ill health”  like Coke and Pepsi creates gridlock, unnecessary damage to roads, and increases greenhouse gases that threatens all wildlife especially birds.
