 Researchers discovered that  one of the reasons that stay-at home fathers and mothers suffered from a higher cancer rate was due to the great variety of very corrosive and toxic cleaning products that they were using inside the house on a daily basis.

Many common household cleaning agents contain formaldehyde.


  • Formaldehyde irritates the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and throat. 
  • It is also a highly reactive chemical which combines with protein and can cause allergic contact dermatitis. 
  • The most widely reported symptoms from exposure to high levels of this chemical include irritation of the eyes and headaches. 
  • Until recently, the most serious of the diseases attributed to formaldehyde exposure was asthma.
  • However, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recently conducted research, which has caused formaldehyde to be strongly suspected of causing a rare type of throat cancer in long-term occupants of mobile homes.


 I do not buy any cleaning products,but make my own.
All you need to keep your house sparkling clean and fresh smelling are- 
  •  vinegar (double strength  from Home Hardware)
  •  baking soda
  •  Borax
  • lemon juice

 DON'T  TREAT MOTHER EARTH LIKE A GIGANTIC GARBAGE BIN On Sunday, October 15, the Barrie Garden Club ventured out on a dark, dreary, and drizzly day to pick up litter, along Highway 26 close to Wilson Avenue. As I was picking up all kinds of litter such as license plates, chairs, discarded clothing, plastic bags, lots  of cigarette butts, and a myriad of discarded coffee containers, I began to reflect on all the problems triggered by litter. Here in Canada, we are very lucky to have an organized system where most municipalities and cities  make sure that there are regular pick-ups for your garbage, compost, and recyclables. So it boggles my mind why so many Canadians do not use the readily provided containers, but instead  treat Mother Earth like a gigantic garbage bin.
